From Greek tradition to the whole world. That’s the music trip that Kadinelia, the progressive world duet of Thanasis Zikas and Evi Seitanidou, offer. A trip where the timeless sounds of Greece are transformed into something new through the alluring acoustic guitar melodies and the harmonic singing of the two musicians.

Kadinelia met in 2014, exchanging ideas and experimenting with many sounds. In the summer of 2015 they finalized the identity of their music project: the enrichment of Greek traditional music with blues and rock elements. Using pentatonic scale as a passage and with the reinforcement of cross-rhythmic guitar patterns, they create a unique multicultural soundscape, where East meets West.

On top of that, the duo’s fondness for primitive cultures and electro music, resulted in the introduction of a new unexpected mixture and two bucolic Greek instruments, the Cycladic bagpipe and the lyra. Their unique ancient sound, orchestrated with guitar and live beatboxing, creates an upbeat, psychedelic atmosphere and consitutes one of the most distinctive feature in their live performances.

Kadinelia released their debut album, in late 2019, and they are currently producing their second LP, expected to be released in October 2024.

 

On stage the two musicians bring all their explosiveness and energy proving that even small groups can offer an expansive experience for concert audiences. Their dedication and faultless live performances have earned them major recognition and a spot on numerous stages at home and abroad. A new tradition as redolent of the streets of Athens as of olive groves and vineyards.
